Holidaying with Pets

It's hard leaving home for a great holiday, while the sad eyes of your pet look up, begging you not to leave them behind!

Thats why we have come up with a page dedicated to making your next holiday pet friendly! Below is information on destinations that are pet friendly, including accommodation and attractions where your best friends can join the fun.

Your pet in National Parks

As a general rule, animals are not allowed in national parks. There are several reasons for this, but mainly for the protection of your own pet. Most national parks are baited with the poison 1080 which is deadly to your domestic friends.

However, there are several state forests and regional parks around Perth where you can take your dog. Be sure to keep in mind that some of these areas are also baited, and so you are asked to keep your dog on its lead. These are listed below:

Perth Hills
  • Lane Poole Reserve, in 8 camping areas and 2 picnic areas*:
  • Oakley Dam picnic area,
  • Marrinup,
  • Scarp Pool picnic area, and
  • Goldmine Hill picnic area.

    Perth Regional Parks

    • Beeliar
    • Jandakot
    • Herdsman Lake
    • Yellagonga
    • Rockingham Lakes
    • Woodman Point
    • Canning River

Please note that the information above is very general and there may be other restrictions. For more information on where you can take your pets in the listed regional parks and forests in Western Australia, please visit the Department of Environment and Conservation (DEC) website.
