August Events 2008

As the winter weather starts to clear, the adventurous type are itching to get outdoors and create some action. If you like some action yourself, August has events for you!

• Multiplex Avon Descent, 2 - 3 August 2008 (not confirmed dates)
  
  A exciting event for those waterlovers who live for a good challenge. When the Avon River starts to flow, manned dingys and canoes hit the waterways in search of some serious rapids. The event is over two days and there are several spectator spots along the river in the area of the Avon valley. Visitors can watch the event for free.
  
  
• Australiasian Safari, 23 - 30 August 2008
  
  Referred to as the Australian version of the famous Dakar desert rally, Australiasian Safari includes several types of 2 and 4 wheel vehicles which traverse along a route through the outback. The event showcases the vast beauty of the Western Australian Outback, ending in Perth where the festivities will contine.
  
  
• Dowerin GWN Field Days, 27 - 28 August 2008
  
  Dowerin is the home to Western Australia's largest machinery expo. The field days are in their 44th year running and have won numerous tourism awards. If you are looking to purchase machinery, this is the place to be, with all sorts on show including tractors, motorbikes, cars, road trains and harvesters. For the wives, there is a large indoor lifestyle arena incorporating wine, food, art, massage and much more.
  
  
• Mundaring Truffle Festival, 1 - 3 August 2008
  
  The truffle is one of the world's most desirable and expensive edible commodities and it can be found right on the outskirts of Perth, in Mundaring. Celebrate everything truffle with activities such as truffle dog demonstrations, truffle master classes, food and wine tasting, fungi walks and much more.
  
  
• WASO at the Movies, 8 & 10 August 2008
  
  Enjoy a night of musical memories as the West Australian Symphony Orchestra take you back with all of your favourite tunes from hit movies such as Raiders of the Lost Arc, Austin Powers, The Man From Snowy River and Star Wars.
